Artist Spotlight: Zhong-Hua Lu

Zhong-hua Lu, who was born in 1958, learned Chinese brush painting from his father and five uncles in Shandong Province, China, beginning at age five.  Currently, he teaches traditional Chinese Arts, including Tai Chi and Chinese brush painting, at Mass MOCA, Williams College, The Capital Region Art Center, The Chinese Community Center, Eastover Retreat Center, and his home studio on the Rensselaer Plateau. Zhong-hua is also the  2016 Hudson Valley Seed Company artist for “Nozaki Cabbage” .

He received a 2018 NYFA Fellowship in Traditional Arts from the New York Foundation for the Arts for his painting, “Chrysanthemum Season “.

Zhong-Hua Lu  lives in rural Rensselaer County, where he finds inspiration from the natural environment of the Rensselaer Plateau
