Culture, Community and the Classroom Showcase: New Paltz

The Culture, Community and the Classroom Showcase is a culminating event that provides opportunities to highlight the exciting programs that resulted from teacher/artist pairings in the k-12 classroom.  In 2024, Local Learning partnered with the Mid-Hudson Teachers Center and New York Folklore to provide workshops for artists and teachers to incorporate traditional arts learning into classrooms in the Mid-Hudson Valley.

Come explore the folk arts educational experiences that are a result of the 2024 Culture, Community and the Classroom Workshops in New Paltz!  This professional development workshop was supported by the Mid-Hudson Teachers Center. The workshop resulted in eight in-classroom experiences for the Hudson Valley, engaging more than eight folk artists and k-12 classroom pairings.  The traditional arts of the community, and their applications within the school settings, will be presented in a Showcase to take place on the campus of SUNY New Paltz.
