This Artist-Focused Culture, Community, and the Classroom special workshop (June 22) prepares folk and
traditional artists to bring their artforms into k-12 educational spaces. Artists will develop or refine artist
statements and portraits that introduce audiences to their practice within its authentic cultural context.
They will also learn techniques for engaging student inquiry around art and culture. CCC artists find the
experience fun and useful. Many have found new ways to share their traditions and use the teaching skills
they gain right away in schools and other settings, such as museums, festivals, and other venues.
