Schenectady/West African Youth Orchestra Debuts a New Work for Banjo and Percussion Orchestra

Join the Ashokan Center for a fabulous evening of 5-string bliss in the performance hall with Scott Hopkins, Abigail Washburn, Mike + Ruthy, Joe Newberry, Peter Davis, and Ned Luberecki.

Of special interest is the debut of a piece for banjo and percussion orchestra, with guest soloists George Elliott Franco on banjo and Brian Melick on percussion.  This will be the debut of a piece for banjo and the Schenectady/West African Youth Orchestra, composed by Scott Hopkins through a Composer’s grant from the New York State Council on the Arts

This concert kicks off a weekend workshop and will feature a diverse range of styles, stories, and beautiful banjo music for the community to enjoy!

A 6 pm Dinner will take place before the performances.  Please purchase your dinner by end of day on Monday, October 27th for our staff to properly plan.
