Culture, Community and the Classroom Showcase: Westbury

The Culture, Community and the Classroom Showcase is a culminating event that provides opportunities to highlight the exciting programs that resulted from teacher/artist pairings in the k-12 classroom.  In 2025, Local Learning partnered with Long Island Traditions and New York Folklore to provide workshops for artists and teachers to incorporate traditional arts learning into classrooms on Long Island.

• Enjoy artists’ sharing.

Come explore the folk arts educational experiences that are a result of the 2025 Culture, Community and the Classroom Workshops in New Westbury!  The workshop resulted in eight in-classroom experiences for Long Island, engaging more than eight folk artists and k-12 classroom pairings.  The traditional arts of the community, and their applications within the school settings, will be presented in a Showcase to take place at Westbury Arts.
