SUMMARY:Culture\, Community and the Classroom Showcase: Westbury
DESCRIPTION:The Culture\, Community and the Classroom Showcase is a culminating event that provides opportunities to highlight the exciting programs that resulted from teacher/artist pairings in the k-12 classroom.  In 2025\, Local Learning partnered with Long Island Traditions and New York Folklore to provide workshops for artists and teachers to incorporate traditional arts learning into classrooms on Long Island. \n\nExperience important local art forms and learn what happened when educators included guest artists in their classrooms this fall.\nFind out what students learned.\nEnjoy artists’ sharing.\n\nCome explore the folk arts educational experiences that are a result of the 2025 Culture\, Community and the Classroom Workshops in New Westbury!  The workshop resulted in eight in-classroom experiences for Long Island\, engaging more than eight folk artists and k-12 classroom pairings.  The traditional arts of the community\, and their applications within the school settings\, will be presented in a Showcase to take place at Westbury Arts.
