SUMMARY:Schenectady/West African Youth Orchestra Debuts a New Work for Banjo and Percussion Orchestra
DESCRIPTION:Join the Ashokan Center for a fabulous evening of 5-string bliss in the performance hall with Scott Hopkins\, Abigail Washburn\, Mike + Ruthy\, Joe Newberry\, Peter Davis\, and Ned Luberecki.  \nOf special interest is the debut of a piece for banjo and percussion orchestra\, with guest soloists George Elliott Franco on banjo and Brian Melick on percussion.  This will be the debut of a piece for banjo and the Schenectady/West African Youth Orchestra\, composed by Scott Hopkins through a Composer’s grant from the New York State Council on the Arts \nThis concert kicks off a weekend workshop and will feature a diverse range of styles\, stories\, and beautiful banjo music for the community to enjoy! \nA 6 pm Dinner will take place before the performances.  Please purchase your dinner by end of day on Monday\, October 27th for our staff to properly plan. \nConcert and dinner tickets can be purchased HERE
